1. Our Approach to Privacy
Haunts is designed to let people discover and participate in local nightlife without requiring them to build a highly identifiable public profile.
Your public Haunts identity is generally pseudonymous and centered on a username or handle. You may create an account using an email address, or you may choose to create an account without providing a personal email address.
Haunts does not sell your personal information.
Haunts does not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Haunts does not continuously track your physical location.
When precise location is used to verify that you are near a venue, Haunts uses that location to make the verification decision and then discards the precise submitted coordinates.
You may permanently delete your Haunts account. When you do, Haunts deletes the information and content associated with that account rather than converting the account into a retained advertising, analytics, or profiling record.
2. Information We Collect
The information Haunts processes depends on how you use the service.
Account Information
Depending on the account type you choose, Haunts may process:
- your email address;
- your username or handle;
- authentication credentials processed through our authentication infrastructure;
- an optional display name;
- an optional profile image;
- an optional biography; and
- account settings and preferences.
Haunts does not store your password in plaintext.
Discovery and Account Preferences
Haunts may store preferences such as:
- your Active Location;
- venue and discovery preferences;
- whether adult-oriented venue listings should be shown on supported discovery surfaces;
- privacy preferences;
- notification preferences; and
- promotional-email preferences.
These settings are associated with your account and are not made public merely because you use them.
Activity and Saved Information
Depending on the features you use, Haunts may process information about:
- venues you save or favorite;
- performers or venues you follow;
- Collections you save;
- Crawls you save;
- Events you mark as Going, Interested, or otherwise add to your calendar;
- eligible venue check-ins;
- ratings;
- game scores;
- achievements;
- points;
- leaderboard participation; and
- other account activity that you deliberately perform.
User-Generated Content
Haunts may process content you voluntarily submit, including:
- profile information;
- photos;
- ratings;
- Collections;
- Crawls;
- Events;
- venue nominations;
- venue information or corrections;
- performer information or corrections;
- venue or performer claim information;
- claim evidence;
- descriptions and notes; and
- other material you choose to submit.
Some of this information may be public when you intentionally submit it to a public feature.
Do not include personal information in public content unless you are comfortable with that information being visible to others.
Operational and Technical Information
Haunts may process limited operational information necessary to run and improve the service, such as:
- page or content impressions;
- detail views;
- feature usage;
- first-party session or deduplication identifiers;
- application errors;
- security events; and
- ordinary server and network information.
Haunts does not use this information to create cross-site behavioral advertising profiles.
3. Email-Based Accounts
You may create a Haunts account using an email address and password.
When you do, Haunts may use your email address for:
- authentication;
- account confirmation;
- password recovery;
- account-security notices;
- essential service communications;
- transactional messages; and
- promotional communications according to your account preferences.
Your account email address is not displayed publicly merely because you have a Haunts account.
4. Accounts Without an Email Address
Haunts also permits you to create an account without providing a personal email address.
An email-less account uses a username and password for access.
If you create an account without a verified recovery email, there is no account-recovery mechanism if you forget your password or otherwise lose access to the account.
Haunts does not provide security-question recovery, secret manual recovery procedures, or support overrides that allow someone to bypass this restriction.
You may later choose to add and verify a recovery email address. If you do, supported email-based account recovery may become available for that account.
Haunts may use internal technical identifiers to operate authentication. An internal system identifier is not a personal email address supplied by you and is not treated as a contact email.
5. Public Identity
A Haunts account is not necessarily tied to your real-world identity publicly.
Your public identity may include:
- your username or handle;
- display name, if supplied;
- avatar, if supplied;
- biography, if supplied;
- content you intentionally publish;
- ratings;
- leaderboard recognition; and
- other public participation.
Haunts nevertheless maintains an internal account identifier so that your account activity, settings, permissions, and content can function correctly.
For that reason, Haunts describes its public identity model as pseudonymous, not completely anonymous.
6. Location Information
Location is an important part of local discovery, so Haunts is designed to use location without maintaining a continuous record of your movements.
Active Location
Haunts uses one Active Location to determine the area you are currently exploring.
You can establish an Active Location by:
- explicitly asking Haunts to use your device location; or
- manually choosing a city or area.
Your Active Location may be used to find nearby venues, Events, Crawls, Collections, and other locally relevant information.
Device Location
Haunts does not continuously monitor your location.
Haunts requests device location when you deliberately use a location feature such as Use my location.
Haunts does not use this feature as background movement tracking.
A precise current-session location may be used for:
- map positioning;
- proximity ordering;
- distance calculations;
- local discovery; and
- venue check-in verification.
For normal persisted discovery purposes, Haunts reduces the precision of a device-derived Active Location rather than saving the exact device fix as your persistent Active Location.
Manually Selected Locations
If you choose a city manually, Haunts may store the city or area name and a geographic reference point associated with that place.
A selected city represents the area you chose to explore. It is not represented as your exact physical position.
7. Venue Check-In Verification
Some Haunts features may require confirmation that an account is physically near a venue. For example, a successful venue check-in may unlock the ability to rate that venue.
When location is used for this purpose:
- your device supplies a location;
- Haunts evaluates whether that location satisfies the applicable venue-proximity requirement;
- Haunts records the result necessary to support the feature; and
- the precise latitude and longitude submitted for that verification are discarded after the decision is made.
Haunts may retain non-coordinate information such as:
- the account that completed the verification;
- the venue;
- whether the verification succeeded; and
- when the verification occurred.
Haunts does not need to retain your exact submitted coordinates in order to remember that the account qualified.
8. Adult-Oriented Venue Listings
Haunts is a nightlife and local-business discovery service. Its directory may include factual listings for adult-oriented establishments, including strip clubs and other businesses intended for adults.
These are business listings.
Haunts is not a pornography or sexually explicit content service, and the existence of an adult-oriented venue listing does not mean Haunts hosts sexually explicit entertainment or material from that venue.
Haunts may allow you to control whether adult-oriented venue listings appear on supported discovery surfaces. Some surfaces may exclude those establishments regardless of your general preference.
Your choice to show or hide adult-oriented venue listings is a private discovery setting. Haunts does not treat that setting as evidence of your:
- sexual orientation;
- gender identity;
- sex life;
- sexual behavior; or
- other sensitive personal characteristic.
Haunts may display venue or Event admission requirements such as 18+, 21+, or all ages. These are informational attributes. A Haunts account does not establish that you are legally eligible to enter a particular venue or Event.
9. Venue and Performer Claims
Haunts may allow authorized people to request management access to venue or performer profiles.
A claim may require information such as:
- your relationship to the venue or performer;
- your role;
- an explanation;
- supporting URLs;
- social-media information; or
- other verification evidence.
Claim evidence is used to determine whether management access should be granted. It is not automatically made public.
Verification evidence is deleted when the verification process is complete and the evidence is no longer needed to make that determination.
Haunts may retain the resulting account permission or claim decision while the account exists when that information is necessary to operate the applicable management feature.
10. Reports and Moderation
Haunts may process reports, restrictions, moderation decisions, and related administrative information in order to operate and protect the service.
Supporting evidence collected specifically to make a completed moderation or verification decision is not retained indefinitely merely because it was submitted.
Haunts may retain a current restriction or account status while the account exists when necessary to enforce that status.
If the account is deleted, account-associated moderation and restriction data are deleted with it, subject only to temporary technical backup lifecycle and requirements imposed by applicable law.
11. Follows, Saves, Calendar, and Similar Relationships
Information such as:
- performer follows;
- venue follows;
- favorites;
- saved Collections;
- saved Crawls; and
- Event intentions or calendar entries
is generally private account information unless Haunts explicitly provides a feature that allows you to share it.
Haunts may display aggregate numbers without identifying the individual accounts that make up those totals.
12. Leaderboards, Scores, and Recognition
Haunts may maintain information related to:
- points;
- achievements;
- verified participation;
- leaderboard standings;
- game scores; and
- venue participation or regular status.
When recognition is public, Haunts uses your public Haunts identity rather than exposing private authentication information.
Where Haunts provides a privacy control that suppresses public recognition, that setting is honored.
Precise location is not displayed as part of public leaderboard information.
13. How We Use Information
Haunts uses information to:
- create and operate accounts;
- authenticate users;
- provide local venue and Event discovery;
- personalize discovery based on user-selected preferences;
- provide maps and geographic features;
- verify eligible venue interactions;
- provide ratings, saves, follows, Collections, Crawls, calendars, and related features;
- provide venue and performer management tools;
- send requested or necessary communications;
- send promotional communications according to your preferences;
- moderate and secure the service;
- diagnose technical problems;
- measure service and content performance;
- prevent abuse; and
- comply with applicable law.
Haunts does not use personal information for cross-site behavioral advertising.
14. First-Party Measurements
Haunts may measure how features and content are used, including aggregate information such as impressions and detail views.
These measurements may help Haunts understand whether features work and may support aggregate reporting about content or venues.
Haunts does not provide venue owners with a list of individual people who merely viewed a venue or Event simply because those views were measured.
15. Browser Storage and Cookies
Haunts uses browser storage and limited cookies for functional purposes such as:
- keeping you signed in;
- maintaining session state;
- remembering Active Location;
- remembering application preferences;
- preserving temporary workflow state;
- maintaining UI settings; and
- first-party measurement or session deduplication.
Haunts does not currently use:
- behavioral-advertising cookies;
- advertising pixels; or
- cross-site tracking pixels.
16. Service Providers
Haunts relies on service providers and infrastructure to operate the application.
These may include:
Lovable and Lovable Cloud
Used for application infrastructure, hosting, managed backend services, operational tooling, and related functionality.
Supabase-Based Infrastructure
Used within the Haunts/Lovable environment for authentication, database functionality, and related backend services.
Lovable Managed Email
Used to deliver authentication, transactional, operational, and promotional email where applicable.
OpenStreetMap Nominatim
Used for geographic search and reverse-geocoding functionality.
Photon / Komoot
Used as a geocoding service or fallback.
Zippopotam.us
Used for ZIP-code lookup functionality.
OpenFreeMap
Used to provide map tiles.
MapLibre GL
Used as the client-side map-rendering library.
Service providers receive only the information necessary for the functions they provide.
As with ordinary internet services, a provider receiving a direct browser request may receive network information such as your IP address as part of delivering that request.
These providers are not treated as advertisers merely because they provide infrastructure.
17. External Services and Links
Haunts may link to external websites, businesses, ticketing providers, transportation providers, social networks, or other services.
Following an external link takes you to a service Haunts does not control. That provider’s own privacy practices apply to information you provide to it.
Haunts does not automatically transfer your Haunts account information to an external business merely because a link to that business appears in Haunts, unless the feature expressly tells you otherwise.
18. Selling and Sharing Personal Information
Haunts does not sell your personal information.
Haunts also does not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Haunts does not operate a business model in which user email addresses, location histories, account activity, or user profiles are sold to advertisers or data brokers.
If Haunts’ practices ever materially change, the Privacy Policy will be updated before such a practice is introduced.
19. Promotional Email
If your account has an email address, Haunts may send promotional communications, including:
- product announcements;
- Haunts news;
- promotions;
- offers; and
- campaigns.
Promotional email is enabled by default for email-capable accounts.
You can turn promotional email off through Account Settings. Promotional messages will also provide an appropriate unsubscribe mechanism where required.
Haunts will honor an opt-out promptly.
Turning promotional email off does not prevent Haunts from sending messages that are necessary for:
- authentication;
- email verification;
- password recovery;
- account security;
- important service operations;
- transactions you requested; or
- legally required notices.
An email-less account cannot receive email unless you later add an email address.
20. Payments
Haunts does not currently offer paid Haunts services or accept payments through the Haunts application.
Haunts does not currently store payment-card information.
If paid products or services are introduced later, Haunts will update the applicable policies and terms before those services become available.
21. Data Retention
Haunts follows a data-minimization approach.
In general:
- precise coordinates used for check-in verification are discarded after the verification decision;
- precise current-session device location is not retained as the persistent exact Active Location;
- verification evidence is deleted when the verification process is complete and the evidence is no longer needed;
- supporting moderation evidence is deleted when the applicable review is complete and the evidence is no longer needed;
- ordinary account information is retained while the account exists and the information is needed to provide the service; and
- account-associated information is deleted when the account is permanently deleted.
Haunts does not intentionally retain information indefinitely merely because storage is available.
22. Permanent Account Deletion
Deletion means deletion.
You may permanently delete your Haunts account.
When account deletion is confirmed, Haunts deletes the authentication account and information associated with that account, including, as applicable:
- profile information;
- email address;
- account preferences;
- discovery preferences;
- follows;
- favorites;
- saved content;
- calendar and Event-intent information;
- ratings;
- check-in records;
- Collections you created;
- Crawls you created;
- Events you created through the account;
- photos and files you uploaded;
- venue or performer claim records;
- claim evidence;
- management relationships;
- achievements;
- points;
- leaderboard and activity records;
- notification information; and
- other user-provided or account-associated information.
Haunts does not convert a deleted account into a retained marketing or behavioral profile.
Deletion of your contribution does not require Haunts to delete independently obtained factual information about a public business, venue, performer, or Event merely because you previously submitted the same fact. Your submitted copy, account association, and contribution are deleted.
Deletion from active systems may require a short period to propagate through technical infrastructure. Residual encrypted copies may temporarily remain in routine provider backups until those backups are overwritten through their normal lifecycle. Such backup copies are not retained for ordinary product use and are not used to recreate deleted accounts.
If applicable law legally prohibits deletion of particular information, Haunts will comply with that legal obligation. Haunts does not otherwise maintain a discretionary business-retention exception to account deletion.
23. Correcting Your Information
Where account controls are available, you may update information such as your:
- profile;
- settings;
- preferences; and
- recovery email.
You can permanently delete the account if you no longer want Haunts to maintain account-associated information.
Haunts does not currently provide a self-service downloadable archive or general-purpose data-export feature.

24. Security
Haunts uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information.
No internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

25. Users Under 18
Haunts accounts are intended only for people who are at least 18 years old.
Haunts does not knowingly permit people under 18 to create accounts.
If Haunts learns that an account belongs to someone who is not eligible to maintain an account under these Terms, the account may be removed.
Haunts does not collect dates of birth solely to verify this requirement.
26. Changes to This Policy
Haunts may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes.
When a change is material, Haunts may provide notice through the service or other appropriate means.
The effective date and last-updated date at the top of this Policy identify the current version.
If a future change requires renewed acknowledgement under Haunts’ legal-consent system, Haunts may require that acknowledgement before continued account use.
